Java Programming vs. Microsoft Devlopment
Which Platform is better?
During the past
few years Microsoft has been battling with many companies on many different
fronts. They have been acquiring companies and building their line of
products for both online and offline development. The stage has been set
and Microsoft is ready for battle with the open source community.
The bottom line is
that their is no clear victor in the web design space. Both Microsoft and
Java technology will exist far into the future and either design platform will
suit the needs of most organizations. They both offer database
connectivity, server side programming, scalability, technical support, robust
platforms, design platforms, and sufficient third party integrators. All
in All both software platforms represent solid design choices
Microsoft made
early headway into the server side programming with its Active Server Pages
(ASP) programming language. This language is based on Visual Basic and is
a very powerful programming language. Sun and the Java Community
responded with Java Server Pages (JSP) and this too is a very powerful
programming language.

Which Platform is better? (Continued)
Recently Microsoft
has released its .NET framework and this has been the latest buzz in the
internet world. Web hosting companies have begun to offer hosting plans
for the .Net servers. Microsoft has bet huge with this technology and
have reported had 2/3 of their programmers working on this new development
platform. Many developers are reporting that this new design language is
easy to use and decreases development time and increases reusability of
code. However, the jury is still out despite Microsoft's investment in
the technology.
No one technology
is right in all situations. It is important for your company to
individually assess its needs before selecting a development platform.
